A bit about us

The Sylvia Smith Foundation was founded in 2010 by Paula Lamarre, who served as Director of the West End and Little Sister daycares for 27 years. 

As a charitable foundation, we are committed to enriching the lives of the preschool children who attend West End and Little Sister daycares and their families with extra-curricular activities, materials and excursions.

Our goal is to ensure that culture, art, music, science and physical education remain an integral part of the educational program offered at the daycare.

The foundation raises funds and receives donations to provide the children with fun, educational programming that supports their development and also provides chances for the West End community to come together.

Our work is made possible with the help of parents who volunteer their time as board members and the community that supports our foundation.

We rely on our fundraising events and generous donations to maintain our wonderful programs. We recommend donations of $30 per child/month, however all donations --big or small--help. We are always available to speak with and find creative ways to support the foundation's efforts.
